Enablers — The Future Of Smart Assistive Mobility Device

Elderlies rely on assistive mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walking sticks to go about their everyday life. However, many of these assistive devices do not prevent the elderly from falling.

The LifeGlider is an assistive mobility device which helps to address this issue and it is designed to reduce the fear of falling and improve its users’ confidence in walking.

Despite this, there is a lack of insight into how users can utilise these devices to improve themselves. There is a huge potential in the assistive mobility sector to provide more insights regarding the use of these mobility devices to understand a user’s walking habits.

The solution is to build a mobile application that would capture various data from the user through the LifeGlider and continuously track their performance based on different time periods. From the mobile application, users would be provided with feedback and be encouraged to monitor their walking ability and motivate themselves to further improve their level of mobility.
